PALMER, Gerald Lee "Jerry" - Age 89, lifelong resident of Fenton, passed away January 20, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, January 24, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 10AM until the time of Mass Monday at church. A scripture service will be held at 6 PM Sunday. Jerry was born June 16, 1932 in Grand Rapids, the son of Perry Clinton and Della Julia (Perrow) Palmer. He was a graduate of Fenton High School, where he was a four sport letterman. He was inducted into the Fenton Sports Hall of Fame for Football. Mr. Palmer was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War and was Past Commander of American Legion Post#38. He served on the Fenton Fire Department for 38 years, with seven years as Chief. Jerry loved going on family vacations to Higgins Lake. For many years Jerry coached boys baseball and girls softball for Little League. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Jerry loved playing cards and had a great sense of humor. He was a man of faith who loved his family more than anything and was so proud of his family. He was an amazing man and touched so many lives through his generosity and engaging personality. He was always the life of the party and loved making people laugh. He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Annalee; children, Scott (Kimberly) Palmer, Susan (Rick) Cripps, Mark (Maria) Palmer and Jennifer (Mike) Mattucci; grandchildren, Scott D., Lynnette, Brandon, Mitchell, Gerald, Gabriel and Gavin; five great-grandchildren; niece, Julie (Clyde) Dunlap; great-nephew, Greg Ewing.
