In true Rick fashion, feel welcome to come dressed in your favorite red, white, and blue attire.

Rick was born on July 9, 1959, but those who know him agree he should have been born on the 4th of July. His love for his country was reflected in every part of Rick’s life. His wardrobe was red, white, and blue, his bedroom decor was strictly all things USA, his drawings were mainly flags, his TV was always on a news channel hoping for a glimpse of his congress in action or a President. “God Bless America” was his very favorite phrase.

Rick enjoyed a very social adult life and loved being in the middle of a party. He made friends with everyone he met. Gatherings with family and friends, boat rides, playing cards, having a “cold beer,” campfires, concerts in the park, playing his Wii, traveling to Arizona, cruises, and holiday celebrations were some of his favorites.

Rick was a spiritual soul. He enjoyed attending church and was even a deacon alongside his mom at Westminster Presbyterian Church. His prayers were some of the most thoughtful and heartfelt, often including a long list of those he loved.

He is survived by his sisters, Karyn (Don) Kutchey, Lynda (Mel) Dodson; bonus mom, Sandra Stanfill; nieces, Jessica (Chris) Smith, Chelsea (Nick Rutkowske) Cox, Mallory (Tyler Small) Cox; Aubrey and Walter Smith; special friends, Rick, Jo, and Ryan McNew, Rick (Connie) Orlowski; Eric (Crystal) Gethicker; uncles, aunts, and cousins; Promedica Hospice, especially nurse Heather, and best loving caregiver ever, Grace Gatica and family who embraced Rick as one of their own.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Stanfill; his father, Walter Stanfill; along with many loved ones.

The highlight of every August was the running of his Friday night Lois Craig CRIM race. Donations may be made to Area 13 Special Olympics.
