Dawn (McBride) Johannes, age 67, died May 15, 2023 in Swartz Creek, Michigan.
Dawn was born in Flint, Michigan on May 17, 1955 to Ronald McBride and Martha (McBride) Shaw. In 1974 she graduated from Carman High School and was married to John Johannes. She attended Mott Community College where she studied criminal justice. She worked at Sears for many years and retired from Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy.
Dawn was preceded in death by her husband: John Johannes, father: Ronald McBride, stepfather: John Shaw, brother: Scott Cosand, parents in-law: Charles and Belle Rose Johannes and brothers-in-law: Gene Reinwasser and Bill Johannes.
Dawn had a generous, caring heart, often taking food or garden veggies to neighbors and friends. She shared her ghost pepper jelly also, which soon traveled all the way to soldiers in Afghanistan. We told her she had become world famous! She was also known for her pumpkin rolls and crab dip.
Her hobbies included gardening, concerts, Nascar, Red Wings and Tigers games. Dawn enjoyed good humor and loved deeply. She had many friends and will be greatly missed.
Dawn is survived by her mother: Martha Shaw, brother: Doug McBride (Diana), sisters: Denise Reinwasser, Tracy Detweiler (Chuck), and Sharla Lear (Jonathan), stepmother: Dawn McBride and many nieces and nephews. In-laws: Tom Johannes, Mark Johannes, Mary White, Jeannie John, and her very good friends: Jim and Debbie Leighton, Sue Carpenter and Kelly Dewitt.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name, to Eastern Michigan Food Bank or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
