OKRAKU, BIRIKORANG A. – Of Flushing, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. An inurnment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm on Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Birikorang was born in Akropong-Akwapim, Ghana, West Africa on December 3, 1946, the son of Eustace Kofi Okraku and Florence Akosua Konadu(Anaafi) Aye. He married Doris Jamerson. Birikorang proudly earned 2 Master Degrees and his Ph.D. He taught Economics at Kettering University and Mott Community College. Being a professor was his whole world. He loved teaching and all of the students that he had over the years. Birikorang also enjoyed planting his flower garden, particularly his dahlias.
Surviving are wife, Doris Okraku;
4 daughters, Sheronica (Rob) Stirton, Amma Okraku, Akosua Okraku and Abenaa (Mathew) Okraku-Kroth;
grandchildren, Nehmeiah Stirton and Sophia and Alexander Kroth;
siblings, Amma Wettstein of Switzerland, Yaw Anaafi Okraku of Canada, Ayebea Okraku of Ghana, Abenaa Okraku Aye of Ghana, Yaa Okraku of New York and Yaw Offei Okraku of Ghana;
and special cousin, Kwasi Darko of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eustace and Florence Okraku Aye; brother, Kwaku Okraku and sister, Adwoa Okromea Aye.
