ALARIE, Marilyn F. – Of Grand Blanc, age 86, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Brookdale Memory Care.
Per Marilyn’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10th, 2021 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 9020 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. A private inurnment to follow.
Visitation 1 p.m. Saturday at the church until the time of service.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Christopher’s Church Reserve Fund.
Marilyn was born in Flint, Michigan on December 22, 1934, the daughter of the late Herbert and Francis (Pontello) Benson.
On August 24, 1957 she married Louis Alarie at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Flint.
Marilyn graduated from the Old Northern High School in 1953. She graduated from University of Michigan in 1957, earning a Bachelor’s Degree and then in 1979 with a Master’s in Business Education. Between earning degrees, Marilyn spent time raising her 3 children. She taught and substituted for numerous schools in the surrounding Flint area. Marilyn went on to retire from Grand Blanc Schools after 16 years of service. Following her retirement, she spent two 10 year periods as secretary for St. Christopher’s Church. To prove that she was still competitive, in her middle 50’s, Marilyn ran 3 Crim 10k’s.
Surviving are husband, Louis Alarie;
children, The Reverend Sue Pethoud, Steven Alarie and Stacey Tyckoski;
grandchildren, Jeffrey Pethoud, Brooke Alarie, Andrew Tyckoski, Chelsae Alarie, Kristen Alarie and Jackson Alarie.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, Herbert and Francis Benson and in-laws, Albert and Ethel Alarie.
