ZUWALA, Mary Magdalene (Malinich) - of Flint, MI, age 86, went to the Lord Thursday, September 29, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Monday, October 3, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home and 11 AM-12 PM Monday, October 3, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or have a Mass said in Mary’s memory.
Mary was born in Flint, MI on August 15, 1936, daughter of the late Andrew and Magdalena (Uradnicek) Malinich. She married Ronald Zuwala on April 27, 1957 and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1981. Mary was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a founding member and cantor of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, one of the first members of the Stephen Ministry and volunteered her time as a Hurley Cancer Floor Volunteer. She was an accomplished singer who performed at churches and funeral homes throughout Michigan. Mary also loved dressing as a clown for the Hurley Children’s Foundation. She and her husband, Ron, founded God’s Healing Love Prayer Group at St. Leo Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by 6 children, Denise (Kris) Musselman, Mark (Vicky), Stephen (Star), David (Gail), Ronald (Shelley) and Paul (Keri); 19 grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew (Shawnee), Duane, Adam, Chrissy (Jason), Jason (Patricia), Natasha (Daniel), Taylor (Kaitlin), Lexy, Audria (Rob), Annie, Cody, Aaron (Jeaneen), Lisa (Wesley), Ryan, Jared, Emily, Claire (fiancé, Brennen) and Lincoln; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister, Mildred (Vlado) Sindolar; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Magdalena Malinich; husband, Ronald Zuwala; son, Matthew Zuwala; grandson, Michael Zuwala; granddaughter, Cassie Musselman and brother, Andrew (Coralee) Malinich.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Lapeer Suncrest Medical Care Facility, Holy Rosary and her very special friend, Evelyn Peterson.
