Kathy was born in Flint, MI on March 9, 1944, daughter of the late Earl and Eleanor (Haeusler) Tatro. She married Tony Bierek on August 5, 1967, in Davison, MI at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, Kathy was very active in her church (coffee and discussion groups, meeting with clergy, prayer chains, she even had a key!). Kathy was also VERY involved with the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute both as a survivor and a volunteer (she worked in the gift shop and was involved in a lot of crafting activities). As an avid crafter, Kathy made several beautiful scrapbooks and homemade cards-she always gave cards, it was her thing (storebought or homemade). If you were into sports, Kathy was your biggest fan, passionately cheering from the stands. A visit to their house often included a review of recent antiquing acquisitions and usually ended with a stroll around the yard to take in her flowers, lilies and roses were her specialty. In recent years, Kathy found joy in collecting and gifting Polish pottery.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Tony Bierek; 2 children, Michael Bierek (his significant other, Stacey Reaume) and Dawn (Bierek) Smith (and her husband, Anthony Smith); 4 special grandchildren, Austin Zawol, Chandler Schiemann, Adam Hall, Lincoln McKinnon; brother, Gary (Janice) Tatro; 2 sisters-in-law, Marylin Taylor and Mary Kay Bierek; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Eleanor Tatro; mother-in-law, Nellie Bierek; brother, Wayne Tatro; sister, Janet Cicalo; 2 brothers-in-law, Michael John Bierek and Joseph Cicalo.
