Robert Allen Guenther Sr., age 75, of Grand Blanc, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Robert’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.
A celebration of life will be announced on his Facebook page at a later date.
Robert was born on February 14, 1951, in Elmo, Missouri, the son of William and Ella (Abbott) Guenther. He worked as a union representative for Local 659 and as a press operator for General Motors at Flint Metal Fab. Robert met, fell in love with, and then married the love of his life, Susan Palmer, on April 17, 1971 in Flint, Michigan.
Robert graduated from Carmen-Ainsworth, enjoyed practicing Martial Arts, earning his First Dan with the U.S. Soo Bak Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation. Loved traveling to Europe with Susan. Together, they shared countless adventures, including what they fondly called “running away from home.”
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Susan Guenther; his sons: Michael (Samantha) Guenther, Shawn (Mike) Guenther, and Chad (Jennifer) Guenther; ten grandchildren: Jenny, Christopher, Chad Jr., Harley, Mykayla, Gavin, Silas, Nathanial, Katey, and Kara; and six great?grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Allen Guenther Jr (2000); his parents: William and Ella Guenther; and his father? and mother?in?law, Francis Leroy Palmer and Patricia Susan Palmer.
