Nancy Kay Oberman, of Genesee, Michigan, passed away on August 6, 2026 at the age of 80. Born on March 29, 1946 in Kokomo, Indiana, to Sybil (Berry) & Eugene “Gene” Hawkins.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Gordon, of 64 years, daughter Angie (Angela) Oberman, grandson Justin Hedrick, his wife Gosia and great grandson, Liam, Son Gordie (Gordon) Oberman, his wife Lisa, and granddaughters Lydia Oberman (fiancé Jeremy Wilson), Emma Oberman, sisters Bonnie Kehoe, Vickie Cummings, Jill (Debra) Hawkins.
Nancy loved to celebrate the holidays with her family, with Christmas being her favorite. She loved to cook, decorate and truly give of herself to make Christmas special for her family. She enjoyed doing ceramics and painted many beautiful holiday decorations.
Nancy was a professional manicurist for most of her working life, creating lasting friendships with many of her coworkers and customers alike. Nano was loved and appreciated by those she encountered through her work.
Nancy had a passion and true talent for flower gardening and was well known for her expansive and beautiful flower gardens. Her favorite garden being one dedicated to the memory of her mother, Sybil. Chatting with people who stopped and visited her gardens brought her great joy for many years. Her gardening prowess earned her the nickname Granny Greenthumbs, which she proudly loved. Nancy had many other nicknames throughout her life, Nan, to friends and family, Granny, to her grandchildren, Nancy Kay Kaiser Billie Joe Berry Hawkins Oberman by her father, Gene.
She was lovingly known as the “#1 Snowfest Mom” to her son and his snow sculpting team members, as she and her husband truly loved visiting and cheering them on during their many snow sculpting competitions.
Nancy Kay Oberman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was truly loved and cherished by many.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father Gene, mother Sybil, brother Ron Hawkins and sister Connie Hopkins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 30, 2026 from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm, at Timothy’s Pub, 2890 Robert T Longway Blvd, Flint, MI 48506, USA
In lieu of flowers, we would respectfully ask that a donation be made to your favorite charity, lovingly made in Nancy’s name and memory.
