Emerick, Margaret of Flushing, age 88, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at McLaren-Flint. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. There will be a gathering of friends and family from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association.
Margaret was born in Flint, Michigan on August 14, 1929, the daughter of Steve and Katherine (Marzynski) Szabo. She married Everett Emerick on September 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2011. Margaret enjoyed bowling and was an instructor for several years. She was a member in the church choir and loved to sing and dance, especially polkas. Margaret enjoyed playing cards, boating and fishing on St. Mary’s River and Mullet Lake. She spent time volunteering at Heritage Manor. Margaret was a wonderful cook, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, David and wife Bobbie Emerick of Kansas, Kathryn and husband Chap Howard of Flushing, Sally Hood of Texas; grandchildren, Scott (Meagan) Emerick, Becki (Matt) Warren, Amy (Ryan) Moddesette, Lauren Howard, Jenna Howard; and 10 great-grandchildren. Margaret was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald and William Szabo.
