GROVE, Ferne E. - Of Goodrich, age 82, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Her family surrounded her with their love and prayers and she took the Lord’s hand and went home to be with her family that preceded her.
Ferne was the baby of 12 siblings and was born to Charles and Anna Crider on November 11, 1943. She married Sheldon E. Grove on August 17, 1963. They resided in Pennsylvania for several years before moving to Michigan and putting down permanent roots.
Ferne was a stay at home mom for several years before beginning work at Wheelock Memorial Hospital in Goodrich, Michigan. From there she opened her own Adult Foster Care and took care of others for 36 years in Goodrich.
Ferne was preceded in death by her parents as well as 9 of her siblings; Irvin, John, Mary, Abram, Monroe, Esther, Anna Grace, Sarah and Dorothy.
She is survived by; her husband, Sheldon, married 63 years, daughters, Robin (Jim) Bonita, Karen (Brian) and Sharon (Frank);
13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as 2 other siblings; Cora and Velva.
Visitation will be at 10am Thursday, September 17, 2026 immediately followed by the service at 2pm at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Cremation will take place following the service with her final resting place at home with Sheldon.
