Marvin was born December 10, 1943, in Traverse City, Michigan, to the late Harold and Evalyne (Hallam) Beckman. He married Karen Swatosh on August 20, 1971, and after many happy years together, Karen preceded him in death March 2, 2015. Prior to his retirement in 2002, Marvin proudly served as a truck driver for over 28 years with Complete Auto Transit, where he was known by his trucker handle, "shaggy dog". He was a loyal member of the Teamsters Local 322 in Flint. Marvin found joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether it was a round of golf, a friendly game of bowling, or being a jokester sharing a hearty laugh with his family and friends. He never met a stranger and was known for his quick wit and storytelling abilities. Marvin was the best and most loving dad, but it was in the role of a grandpa, or as he was also affectionately called papa, that Marvin truly shined. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will live on forever.
Surviving are: Children: Kelly Beckman, Brian (Heather) Beckman, Michael (Sue) Beckman, and Kimberlee Beckman; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; Brothers: Keith (Linda) Beckman, and Garland Beckman; Sister in law, Pat Beckman; Special friends: George Pierce, Jeff Hart, and Carl Bair; Many loving nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. Marvin was preceded in death by: Wife, Karen Beckman; Parents: Harold and Evalyne Beckman; Sisters: Lorraine Dufek, and Charlotte Dallaire; Brothers: Wayne Beckman, and Milford Beckman.
