Dorothy Mae Phillips, age 90, of Clio Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home on September 15th, 2023.
Born June 16th, 1933, to Thaddeus and Edna Brown, she was one of 17 siblings. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Russell Phillips. They were married in 1955 and had 5 children. She enjoyed sewing and spending winters at their second home in Florida. She loved entertaining family and friends who would come to visit. Dorothy and her husband liked to listen to live music and frequented the local venues. She was an avid fisherwoman and extremely competitive when playing card and board games. Dorothy was greatly loved and passionate about spending time and sharing life experiences with family and friends. Her famous potato salad was always a family favorite during holidays and family gatherings. Dorothy was a prolific businesswoman and cofounded several successful businesses ventures.
She leaves behind 5 children, daughters Mary and her husband Jim Gibson, Joy and her husband Lester Walker, Sue Bunting and her companion Tom, Cheryl Phillips-Ellsworth and her husband Stephen Kelbel, and her son Ronald and his wife Carman Phillips. Dorothy had 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a large number of nieces, nephews, and numerous close friends and associates.
Memorial services will be held Saturday September 23rd at the O’Guinn Funeral Home located at 503 N. Mill Street, Clio, MI 48420. Visitation hours will be from 11am to 1pm followed by a funeral service. The family extends an invitation to a luncheon immediately following the service at the Thetford Township Hall located at 4014 East Vienna Road, Clio MI.
