HANNER, Marvin Edwin – of Grand Blanc, MI, age 96, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Tim Tuthill officiating. Interment in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, IL. The family will receive visitors 10 AM-12 PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, in Marvin’s memory.
Marvin was born in Bloomington, IL on February 15, 1925, son of the late Fred and Pauline (Kurtz) Hanner. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. Marvin married Jeanne W. Hooker on February 3, 1946 and she preceded him in death on January 9, 2004 after almost 60 years of marriage. He was a graduate from the University of Illinois with an electrical engineering degree. Marvin retired from Kelsey-Hayes Co. as an electrical engineer (PE) after over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, organic gardening and was active in the Jackson Rose Society. Everybody who met him, loved him.
Marvin is survived by 4 children, Mark (Becky) Hanner, Dave Hanner, Laurie (Ted) Bornhorst and Lisa (Randy) Burt; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pauline Hanner; wife, Jeanne W. Hanner; son, Eric Hanner; granddaughter, Sarah Burt; 2 brothers, Herb Hanner and Paul Hanner.
