OWENS, Mary “Syble” – of Mt. Morris, age 89 went home to be with her Lord, Saturday February 6, 2021 at her residence, with her family by her side. Family will receive friends on Thursday February 11, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Funeral service and burial at Thetford Twp. Cemetery will be private. Pastor Larry Survance will officiate. Following Covid 19 and government regulations, only 25 people are allowed in our chapel at one time and masks are required. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Memorials may be considered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Syble’s name.
Syble was born September 1, 1931 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to the late Andrew and Nora (Thornsberry) Brown. On July 1, 1950, she married the love of her life, James Fred Owens. They spent 61 wonderful years together, sadly he passed away on April 21, 2012. Syble attended Mott Community College in Flint and received her Associates Degree, and for 12 years worked for various hospitals and home health services as a Nursing Aide. When able, she attended the Eagle’s Nest Church in Mt. Morris. Syble loved to read books, magazines and the newspaper which she would read from front to back. Even though she worked for many years, her greatest joy in life was raising her children and being a mother. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and cherished the time she could spend with her family.
Surviving are: Children: Avis Lloyd of Mt. Morris, James “Jim” Owens of Clio, Rita (Joseph) Thayer of Millington, Ricky (Sherry) Owens of Mt. Morris, Robert Owens of Mt. Morris, Jack Owens of Genesee and David Owens of Vassar; 21 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and many Great Great Grandchildren; Siblings: Claudene, Pete, Jean and Frank.
