Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Yolanda’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.
Yolanda was known for her powerful voice-both in song and in spirit. She had a deep love for music and a natural gift for nurturing others. Her life was shaped by strength, fierce loyalty, and a big, giving heart. She stood firmly in who she was and lived with bold honesty and humor. Those who knew her well loved her deeply, and they knew that under her strong exterior was a woman who would do anything for the people she loved.
She was proud of her heritage and her many talents-both artistic and professional. Yolanda worked hard her whole life and was admired for her dedication and integrity. She was an active member of the Genesee Valley Indian Association, serving on its Board of Directors and advocating for her community. Professionally, she held positions at Gates Learjet and AC Delco, where she built a strong reputation for excellence. She retired from AC Delco in 2002, four years after her daughter Christina Levonne Schutz went missing in 1998. That loss changed her life. Yolanda began raising Christina’s children, Harvest and Chloe, giving them love, stability, and strength. Shortly afterward, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, to be close to her parents' graves and to start a new chapter with her grandchildren.
Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gloria; her brother-in-law, Clarence Shirley; and her beloved daughter, Christina Levonne Schutz.
She is survived by her daughter Gina Cavazos (Schutz) and son-in-law, Sabas Cavazos III; her son, David A. Hall; her grandchildren, Harvest Riley and Chloe (Michael) Ochoa; her brother, George Aguilar, and his wife, Josianne Balasko; six grandchildren-Angelita, Sabrina, Sabas IV, Jesus, Davi, and Devin; and seven great-grandchildren-Sabian, Brielle, Vincenzo, Gabby, Ricardo, Ace, and Alyanah.
Yolanda will be remembered for her voice, her strength, her deep love for her family, and the fierce way she showed up for those she cared about-especially when they needed her most.
Yolanda's obituary was written by her loving family. |
