Mike was born September 2, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Patrick J. and Alma R. (Pardee) Fitzgerald. He graduated from Beecher High School in 1960, and later attended Mott Community College before starting his apprenticeship with Flint Plumbing and Pipe Fitting. Mike married Mary Agnes Green on September 18, 1965, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. He was a pipefitter for outside construction for many years before working at both Fisher Body (Coldwater Road) and Delphi Chassis from 1978 until his retirement in 2003. Mike was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He moved to Gladwin in 2003 and became a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church. Mike was a trustee with the Gladwin Eagles and a longtime member of the Clio Athletic Boosters. He was very involved with Clio sports and took great pride in supporting them by working the chain gang for Clio football, and crowd control during Clio basketball games, sitting on the baseline with his beloved best friend, Ron Green. Mike coached baseball from little league all the way to the Varsity level, 28 years worth of dedication to Clio Baseball and was awarded the MHSBCA assistant coach of the year award. Mike also spent time time as an assistant baseball coach at Mott Community College. In his earlier years, Mike enjoyed golfing with his dad, where he had the fortunate luck of experiencing two holes in one. He also enjoyed sitting outside his home on Secord Lake, and always kept himself busy making sure everything was organized and his lawn was pristine. He loved watching sports – especially the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers....with an occasional Miller Lite. He had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. Above all, family was the most important thing in Mike’s life and he always made it a priority to tell them how much he loved them.
