Along with helping on the farm, Shar raised and showed Herefords through the Genesee County 4-H Club. On February 20, 1965, Shar married the love of her life, Bob Rogers, after meeting at Consumers Power Company, where they both worked. After starting a family, Shar dedicated herself to raising their children and later returned to the workforce as a secretary for Gates Elementary School in Davison. She worked there for many years, becoming a cherished member of the school community, before retiring. Shar was a devoted member of the Goodrich United Methodist Church, where she and Bob actively served on numerous committees and boards. She was especially known for her leadership in the church's pasty fundraiser, which raised funds to support the church’s mission. A woman of many talents and interests, Shar was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and the chance to sport her favorite color, purple. She and Bob were avid square dancers and participated in a local square dance club alongside her sister Nancy and brother-in-law Bob Adams, performing at various community events. In retirement, Shar and Bob loved to travel together, often joining group tours to explore new places. They cherished visiting their son, David, and his family in Georgia and spending winters with extended family in Florida.
