CARLEY, Gerald R. – of Davison, MI, age 84, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. A Funeral Service will be held at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. Davison, MI 48423 on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 11 AM; Rev. Robert D. Taylor officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors from 1 PM – 7 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026, and from 10 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Animal Control.
Gerald was born in Detroit, MI on November 16, 1941, son of the late George and Evelyn (Roy) Carley. He married Marion Hipple on Oct. 19, 1963. Marion preceded him in death on June 17, 2012. Gerald retired as a Senior Superintendent for Barton Malow. He was an accomplished wood carver and made the most beautiful violins. Gerald was known for his kindness and wonderful sense of humor. He loved the outdoors, spending time camping, fishing at Pete’s Lake in Munising and working in his yard. Gerald and Marion enjoyed their travels around the US in their travel trailer. He will be remembered for his big heart and great love for animals, especially the love for his beloved dogs over the years.
Gerald is survived by his son, Gerald (Tara) Carley; daughter, Jane (Timothy) Rini; grandchildren, Savanna (Troy) Hanna, Tanner (Carlea) Carley-Rossi, Grayson Carley, Sarah Rini, Andrew (Kaitlyn) Rini, and TJ (Paige) Rini; greatgrandchildren, Aubrey, Ellie, Delaney, Evelynn, Morgan, Bailey, Kaden, Tommy and Cole; brothers, George (Barb) Carley, Fred (Sharon) Carley; sister, Linda (Mike) Ryan; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marion; and brothers-in-law, Paul Hipple and Alvin “Bud” Cabot.
