HILLMAN, Morayma "Mory" (nee: Cabrera de Perez), age 94 and longtime resident of Grand Blanc, passed away June 12, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. The family will receive guests on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mory to the Humane Society of Genesee County (geneseehumane.org).
She is survived by children, Elizabeth Miller of Burton; Jeanette (Richard) Schultz of Flint Township; Paulette Taghian of Flushing: Kenneth (Karen) Powell of TX; and Michael Powell of FL. Grandchildren, Andrew (Michelle) Tower; Matthew Gaydou; Vicki (Larry) Gorman; Scott (Denise) Rulka; Heather Locker; Tiffany (Gregory) Wood; Tony Powell; Teya Current; and Melissa Bosworth. Great-grandchildren, Mike; Andy (Ashley); Curtis; Domonic; Braden; Easton; Tyler; Nathan; Cameron; Christian; and several other loving great-grandchildren. Three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Ledo; nephews, Antonio; George; Javier (Tawni) also survive.
Morayma Sara Hillman was born on August 4, 1928 in Havana, Cuba to the late Leopold and Maria (Cabrera) Perez. When she was 17 she worked as a singer & dancer with the night club troupe in the Panama Canal. She married Kenneth Powell in 1949 and she came to America where she taught herself English and worked hard to graduate from cosmetology school. After the passing of her husband, Kenneth, and later in life, she married William Hillman. Mory was a devout Catholic, she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Mrs. Hillman was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; granddaughter, Michelle George; brother, Leopold Perez; son-in-laws, Michael Rulka and Thomas Miller.
