Parks, Darrell R. of Flushing, age 85, died Sunday, October 9, 2022, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m Thursday at the church until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous for the St. Robert Chapter.
Darrell was born in Flint, Michigan on April 16, 1937, the son of Sherley and Ella (Somers) Parks. He married Mary Farrell on December 16, 1983. Darrell worked for 42 years for the State of Michigan as a Surveyor. He was proud of being a mentor and sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous for over 40 years. He loved working in his vegetable garden and enjoyed feeding family and friends with the food he grew. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending sporting events of his children or grandchildren. The greatest joy in his life was his family.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Russell and wife Paula Parks, Kelly Telling, Korey Parks, Bill and wife Mariann Farrell, Christine Farrell, Tony and wife Belle Farrell, Jim and wife Bonni Farrell, John and wife Judy Farrell, Cindy Farrell; daughter-in-law, Carol Walczak; 30 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and sister, Colleen and husband Larry David. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Parks; infant daughter; sons-in-law, Halsey Telling, Mike Walczak; sisters, Ruth Ann Espinoza, Barbara Wilkins.
