HAUCH, Shirley (Pierson) – of Flint, MI, age 96, passed away on September 10, 2022 at Bella Vita Senior Living, where she had resided for just a few months, formerly residing at Kearsley Daly Villa, Flint, MI. Following Shirley’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service to honor her will be scheduled at a later date. If you would like to make a donation in Shirley’s memory, please consider mailing a donation to the Davison Senior Center, 10135 Lapeer Rd. Davison, MI 48423, where she and her husband were active members for many years.
Shirley was born in Bellbrook, OH on February 6, 1926, the only child of the late Robert and Mildred (Glotfelter) Pierson. She met Jack Hauch during World War II while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force, and they were married on February 16, 1945. After nearly 60 years of marriage, Jack preceded her in death on October 25, 2004. Shirley worked and retired from the City of Lapeer. She and her husband traveled to many states in their RV for several years after retirement. Shirley enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading. She was an active participant for many years at the Davison Senior Center and then at the Eastside Senior Center. She enjoyed group traveling, playing cards, taking exercise classes and playing bingo.
Shirley is survived by her 5 children, Linda Rivard, Beverly (Richard) Webster, Edward (Joline) Hauch, William “Bill” Hauch and Todd (Amy) Hauch; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family would also like to thank all of Shirley’s caregivers over the past several months as her health rapidly declined. She spent time not only at Bella Vita, but at Ascension Genesys Hospital and at rehabilitation facilities.
