Morgan Lynn Webb-Preston

Born: 4/11/1997
Died: 8/5/2023
Age: 26
Community: Durand, MI

On Saturday, August 5, Morgan Lynn Webb-Preston left our world suddenly, but remains in our hearts as our beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.

Morgan was born on April 11, 1997, to Robert and Sidone Webb of Durand, Michigan. She grew up as a proud Durand Railroader, spending her first days of life on the softball field watching her sister, Nicole, and then her entire childhood as the #1 fan of her brother, John. Morgan spent her summers playing travel softball and eventually excelled as a first baseman and power hitter for the Railroaders, helping to claim district and league titles. She was devoted to her school in many ways and was proud to have helped plan the first-ever prom to be held at The Big House! She graduated with honors from Durand High School in 2015.

Morgan was also competitive in archery, which is where she met her high school sweetheart and beloved husband, Kyle. They were married on October 24, 2020, by Morgan’s dear uncle, Rick Will, and celebrated with their families under a cotton candy sky and sharing a bottle of Slivovitz. Morgan and Kyle enjoyed spending time on Mullett Lake with Kyle’s family, and were always exploring new foods and restaurants. In 2019 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baker College and worked as an RN at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, mostly recently in the NICU.

Morgan loved her family fiercely. She was proud of her Serbian and Belgian roots, and there was nothing she loved more than having her entire family together for a get-together, especially the epic Labor Day bashes! Morgan had 8 nieces and nephews, Wynn, Knox, Nash, Jett, Zeke, and Reese Carpenter, and Kaylyn and Nicholas Webb, all of Durand. She loved to watch the kids play sports, from football, wrestling, and baseball, to tennis, basketball, golf, and volleyball. She loved supporting her brother, John, as he coached Durand’s varsity football team. Morgan also coached girls’ tennis at Durand High School with her sister, Nicole, for the past 7 years. During that time, Morgan coached the girls to 3 state finals appearances, 2 league titles, and a regional championship.

As casual and athletic as Morgan was most of the time, she loved her bling, anything “bougie,” and some good dancing, sometimes even a little twerking. The music Morgan enjoyed wasn’t always the most appropriate, and she loved to quote “God’s Plan” when anything unusual would happen. Now we try to find peace in knowing that God had a plan for Morgan, but we will miss her dearly nonetheless. Morgan was welcomed to heaven by her grandmother, Patricia Webb, her aunt Mary Lou Miller, cousin Wesley Borrow, grandfather Melvin Helzer, and an uncle she loved dearly despite having never met on earth, Nicholas VanSlambrouck.

Morgan is survived by a host of family and friends who will forever carry on her memory: husband, Kyle; parents, Robert and Sidone Webb and Craig and Diane Preston; grandparents Victor and Dolores VanSlambrouck,Wayland Webb, and Diane Helzer; sister Nicole (Bryan) Carpenter; brother John (Karly) Webb, her 8 nieces and nephews; special cousin-sister Maggie (Miller) Gelling; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to join us on Wednesday, August 9, from 5-8pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Durand, or Thursday from 11am-noon, with funeral services beginning at noon. A funeral procession will follow for burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon, and then a luncheon at Dutch Hollow Golf Course in Durand. The Rev. Dr. John Walworth will officiate the service.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Online condolences may be shared at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com.
