SUTHERLAND, Jean Louise (Leonhardt) – of Burton, MI, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at her residence. The family will receive visitors, for members of Heritage United Church of Christ and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, from 2-3 PM Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Heritage United Church of Christ, 7074 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. A Funeral Service, for members of Heritage United Church of Christ and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, will be held 3 PM Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Heritage United Church of Christ; Rev. Jim Offrink and Rev. Linda Graham co-officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6-7 PM Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Heritage United Church of Christ. A Funeral Service, for friends and family, will be held 7 PM Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Heritage United Church of Christ; Rev. Jim Offrink officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice, in Jean’s memory. In accordance with State Mandated Guidelines, masks are required, social distancing must be observed and limitations on the number of people in attendance will be enforced.
Jean was born in Port Huron, MI on October 20, 1937, daughter of the late Clifford H. and Bessie (Campbell) Leonhardt. She married Lee Sutherland on June 13, 1959 in Port Huron, MI. Jean was a former member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and a current member of Heritage United Church of Christ. She was a Multi-Media Artist and Docent at the Flint Institute of Arts, a Brownie leader, Red Hat Society Queen and a Volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital.
Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lee; 2 children, Clifford (William Falu) Sutherland and Diane (Subash) Chander Sutherland; grandson, Rohit “Charlie” Duggal; sister, Ann Marie Shayna; brother, William (Carole Sue) Leonhard; many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Bessie Leonhardt and her sister, Carol Whittaker.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses of Mid-Michigan Home Health and Hospice, especially Aubrey, Brandi, Melony, Johnetta, Kathy, Gloria, Clara Rose and Chaplain Marius, for their loving and compassionate care of Jean.
