Raymond "Ray" Carey, of Flushing, Michigan, age 90, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing. Fr. Anthony Brooks will officiate. Visitation will be at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. For those who wish to attend the service virtually, a live-stream of the Mass will be on the Rossell Funeral Home Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Pulmonary Rehabilitation or St. Robert Catholic Church.
Ray was born in Akron, Colorado on August 23, 1930 to Virgil and Esther (Leyton) Carey. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on a fuel tanker ship during the beginning of the Korean War. Ray married Jeanette Revoir on April 11, 1953 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Flint. He retired from Consumers Energy after a 37 year career. Ray loved to go bowling and golfing and enjoyed fishing as well. After retirement, Ray took up woodworking and crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture.
Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette; children, Jennea (Rick) Augbury, Dale (Barbara) Carey, Julie Carey-Prevost, and Michael (Luann) Carey; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Desiree (John) Carey-Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Esther; and two siblings. |
