THOLL, Bernard “Bernie” Albert – of Lapeer, MI, age 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 20, 2022 surrounded by family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, February 26, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Friday, February 25, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Friday, February 25, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Bernie was born in Geneseo, IL on November 30, 1937, son of the late Bernard and Ann (Mattan) Tholl. He was ordained a priest in 1963 and faithfully served as Assistant Pastor at St. Mary’s in Moline, IL for 6 years. Bernie married Rosie Bruning on May 10, 1969 in Midlothian, IL. They raised their family and lived in Chicago from 1969-2001. After retiring as a real estate appraiser, they relocated to Lapeer, MI. He loved his family, camping, playing Euchre, birdwatching, and was a very active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosie Tholl; 3 children, Rob (Fay) Tholl of Chicago, Monica (Mark) Uryga-Williams of Lapeer and Anna Foster of Lapeer; 10 grandchildren, Heather (Jim), Kyle, Justin, James (Miriam), Ryan, Anthony, Emily, Megan, Zac and Nick ; 3 great-grandchildren, George, Chris and Scarlet; 3 siblings, Helen (Ladd) Poell of Moline, IL, Ed (Mary Jane) Tholl of Palatine, IL and Maggie (Jim) Bradley of Bettendorf, IA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Tholl; sister-in-law, Linda Tholl and son-in-law, Trevor Foster.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the many prayers and support given throughout Bernie’s brief illness.
