Henry Edmund Purdy, age 89, of Houghton Lake, Michigan passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
Henry Edmund Purdy was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 3rd, 1934 to Harry and Lillian Purdy. Many knew him as “Ty”, as he was born when the Tigers won the pennant and was delivered by the team doctor. As a member of the U.S. Navy, Ty was very proud of serving his country. In 1961, he and his father started P&P Manufacturing Company and later established PATCO Air Tools. Both of which are still in operation today. He spent much of his life in Houghton Lake, Michigan creating many memories with his family. When he wasn't in Houghton Lake, Ty enjoyed traveling with his late wife Burlett. Ty was a loving husband and father and will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his devotion to family, God and his country. He will be dearly missed.
Ty is survived by: son John (Cathy) Purdy, of Grand Blanc; daughter Diane (Steven) Shaffer, of Clarkston; sister Sherry (Jon) Kirsch, of Oxford; grandchildren Casey, Ty (Jenna), Ahna, Jenna (Josh), and Leah; great-grandchildren Hadley, Brave, Brantley, Aubriella, Brooklyn, Harper, and Hudson; many nieces and nephews and special friend Elaine Head.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Lillian Purdy; and loving wife Burlett Purdy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 12 p.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Burial and military honors will follow at White Chapel Cemetery, 621 W. Long Lake Rd, Troy, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Wounded Warriors or Compassion International. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hillfh.com for the Purdy family.
