Rita was born June 18, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Henry and Cornette (Barbe) McLaughlin. She graduated from Flint Central High School and later attended Mott Community College. Rita married the love of her life, Frank Altenritter on June 29, 1974, at Oak Street Free Methodist Church. She attended Flushing Baptist Church. Rita enjoyed painting and crafting, but above all, loved spending time with her family. She knew what love was and always put her family first. Rita’s husband, children, and grandchildren were her entire world. She was the most caring lady with a heart of gold who always took the time to send cards for every occasion to make people feel special, she never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Rita enjoyed the simple life and giving back to the less fortunate any way she could – especially to Carriage Town Ministries in Flint. She was the most wonderful wife, mother, nana, and friend. Rita will be greatly missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.
