WELCH, Evelyn (Hill) – of Davison, age 93, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026 at Gross Assisted Living. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private inurnment at Davison Cemetery will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics, in Evelyn’s memory.
Evelyn was born in Davison on November 14, 1932, the daughter of the late Earl J. and Reva (Sweers) Hill. She married Julius Rose on December 26, 1950, and together they had three wonderful children. On November 12, 1993, she married Robert Welch, who preceded her in death on February 2, 2022. Evelyn retired in 1993 from Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) after many years of devoted service as a teacher’s aide, where she touched the lives of countless students with her patience, kindness, and steady encouragement. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her loving heart, and the deep devotion she showed to those she cherished most. Evelyn lived her life with a caring and generous heart. She found great joy in golfing, skiing, and spending her winters in the sunshine of Arizona. Whether on the course, on the slopes, or surrounded by friends, she embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm. Her greatest happiness, however, was her family. Evelyn dearly loved her children and grandchildren, treasuring every moment spent together. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Sassy, who brought her constant companionship and comfort.
Evelyn is survived by her loving children: Michael (Pat) Rose, David “Pat” (Anna) Rose and Terri (Randy) Gill; stepdaughter, Cathy (Bob) Spillane; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Lottie Massengill; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers: Earl Hill, Jr., Clayton “Spike” Hill, Keith “Tim” Hill and Al Hill; grandson, David Rose; stepson, Robert O. Welch.
