Dahna S. Loeding, age 75, a long-time resident of Lapeer, passed away on September 4, 2021, after a long illness. She is survived by her spouse John Loeding of 48 years. Dahna was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Dorothea Sparrow.
Dahna was born in Galion, OH in 1946. She was a person who always made life better from that time on to the present. She expressed cheerfulness, kindness, generosity, and humility everywhere she went. Everybody knew that, including her pets which she adored. Dahna was wed to John Loeding on December 23, 1972.
Education was high on Dahna's list of priorities as she taught for Lapeer Community Schools. Her career was 31 years of elementary teaching in which she loved, both presenting lessons and aiding children in learning. Her teaching assignments included kindergarten, first, and third grade. She would say “I loved every minute of it" - a truly gifted teacher!
Some of her special talents were in artistic skills with design, symmetry, and balance at the forefront. She was fantastic with interior decorations and household garden planning. She also enjoyed nurturing the plants, watching them grow, and trimming them.
Her interest and skills shown as a member of the Lapeer County Community Foundation Board of Trustees were special, particularly in bringing a program called “Giving Tuesday" to this locale. She was very dedicated to the Women's Fund as a vital program of the foundation as well. Being a member of PEO (Philanthropic Organization), Tuesday Club (reading group), and the Lapeer Wildflower Garden Club brought her great satisfaction and allowed her giving spirit to flourish.
Dahna was a person who always had good ideas but seldom took any credit for them. Modesty and understatement were her watchwords. She was pleasant to be around and always made a difference.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A visitation and celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lapeer County Community Foundation.
