SIMEK, Helen Virginia – Of Fenton, age 95, died Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Vicinia Gardens.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, September 17, 2021 St. Charles & Helena Catholic Church, 230 East Vienna Street, Clio, Father Ken Coughlin officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Food Pantry at St. Charles & Helena Catholic Church.
Visitation 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Scripture Reading will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 9:30am Friday at church until the time of the Mass.
Helen was born in Flint, Michigan on July 4, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Sugier) Zbiciak. On July 27, 1946 she married Martin Simek and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2000. Helen belonged to Holy Family Catholic Church and in later years St. Charles & St. Helena Catholic Church. She loved animals, and loved to cook. Above all else, her family was very important to her. She always found reasons to get the family together.
Surviving are children, Marty (Carrie) Simek of Linden, MI,
James Simek of Flushing, MI, Michael (Denise) Simek of Denver, NC
and Diane (Mark) VanDenBerge of Denver, NC;
8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren;
many nieces, nephews and special friends from Crystal Lake.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, John Zbiciak, Chester Zbiciak, Stanley and Thadeus Zbiciak and Deloris Barrett.
