David, Marian M (Yonan) 85 of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away November 25, 2021.
Marian was born on September 24, 1936 in Flint, Michigan the eldest child of Mishael and Marguerite (Solomon) Yonan. She attended Flint schools and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1954. After high school she attended and graduated from Baker Community College where she learned her impeccable administrative and secretarial skills. She was hired at General Motors where she spent her career in various plants and departments across the city making numerous friends and joining various business clubs throughout her years. She retired as an Executive Secretary in 1992 with over 30 years of service. She then came out of retirement to work alongside her sister at Marshall Field’s where she met a great group of friends, honed her shopping skills, and had fun every single day. She was often teased that she spent more money than she made. On November 23, 1987 she married her loving husband John and they recently celebrated 34 years together. The two enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, California and Las Vegas and spending winters in Arizona with family. She was a faithful member of the Assyrian Church of the East since birth and was an equally proud member of the Assyrian American Club of Flint, spending many dedicated hours throughout her life volunteering at both places. What she treasured and cherish most was being a loving and dedicated daughter, caring and attentive wife, exceptional mother, and doting grandmother.
She is survived by her devoted husband John, daughter Amy (Jim) sons Jon and Dan (Janine); grandchildren Sydney, Andrew, and Matthew; brother Edward (Donna), sister Annette and niece and nephews Michele, Eddie, and Michael (Bryce); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wardia (Dan), Rowil (Rose), Youel (Younia), Suzie (Nabil) and Sam (Doris); many nieces, nephews, and special cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mishael and Marguerite, special aunt Elsie Thomas and loving father in-law and mother in-law Mattai and Suria David.
Visitation will take place on Monday November 29, 2021 at Swartz Funeral Home in Grand Blanc from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00—8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Assyrian Church of the East, 3112 Lewis Street, Flint, MI 48506 with graveside services to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Assyrian Church of the East. The family also asks that all guests wear a mask while attending the services.
