Gordon was born on October 5, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Oliver (Lena) Saylor. He was the fourth child out of six children. As a child and teen, he would spend most of his time out and about with his brothers in downtown Flint sitting outside of music clubs enjoying the music from a far and sneaking into theaters and sports events. Gordon and his siblings grew up with very little yet always cherished the small things in life. Like his mother's delicious pies, he always talked about and time he spent with his siblings. As a young adult Gordon was employed with General Motors in Flint, MI where he worked for over 30 years and retired in 1995.
On January 28th, 1961, Gordon married his best friend and love of his life Barbara Zwolensky.
Gordon and Barbara had 4 wonderful children that they loved and cherished very much. They spent many of their children's younger years traveling and camping all over the United States visiting National Parks. Gordon and Barbara shared 61 beautiful and adventurous years of marriage together.
In his spare time Gordon enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and betting on the horse races. His fondest memories were those spent with his family, friends and especially his grand and great-grandchildren whom he absolutely adored.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his four children, Greg (Richard) Saylor, Paul (Dawna) Saylor, Mike Saylor and Connie (Jeff) Steffon; grandkids, Karlie Saylor (Chris Anzures), Deven Frazee, Eric Steffon, Edward (Kelsey) Steffon, Joel and Jasmine Alejo, Julia and Joey Saylor; great-grandkids, Tyler, Mason, Violet, Johnny, Daniel, Jay, Christen, Elija and Jax. He is further survived by his siblings Shirley Saylor and Don (Betty) Saylor
In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his siblings Edward, Jerry and Oliver Jr. |
