BURNSIDE, MARIE MAGDALEN (HERTER), age 84, of Mount Morris, MI (formerly of Rochester Hills); born September 25, 1933 in Allentown PA; entered eternal life 22nd of February, 2018 at home with family by her side after a lengthy illness. Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Karl Storey Burnside. Marie is survived by her daughter Jayne Calton (Bill), son Karl Burnside (Karen) and grandchildren Nickolas Berger and Kelsey Calton. Marie was a wonderful, caring mother who loved her family dearly, loved to laugh, and enjoyed outdoor activities. She had an exceptional artistic talent for both painting and sketching. After graduating from Catholic Central high school, Marie became a nurse anestheist, receiving her training from Sacred Heart hospital in Allentown, PA. She later found employment at Misericordia hospital in Philadelphia. Eventually Marie took a career opportunity in Michigan at St. Joseph hospital in Pontiac. Marie soon met her husband-to-be Karl, and they were married for 50 years until his passing in May of 2011. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Marie can be made to Reverence Home Hospice of Grand Blanc or St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Flint. Funeral will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tues. 27th of February at Dryer Funeral Home in Holly, with Father Jay Gantz of St. Andrews Episcopal Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service Tues. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. www.dryerfuneralhomeholly.com |
