SLAWTER, Hazel “Cadillac” – of Davison, formerly of Grand Blanc, MI, age 92, passed away March 3, 2017 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 5 PM Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Curtis Lilly officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM until the time of service. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Elkin Funeral Service, 560 Nc Highway 268 W, Elkin, NC 28621. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery in State Rd., NC. On Tuesday, visitation will be from 12 PM until the time of the service at Elkin Funeral Service in Elkin, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Davison VFW Post #4087.
Hazel was born in Pilot Mountain, NC on November 3, 1924, son of the late Emery and Vada (Collins) Slawter.
Hazel is survived by children, Mary (Carl) Knieper, Teresa (Ed) Seames, Donald (Bethany) Slawter and Gary Slawter; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; sisters, Thelma Gentry and Alma Martin; many loving nieces and nephews in North Carolina; friend of 30 years, Wanda Robbins and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special friends, Harold and Sandy Dahlberg. He was preceded in death by son, John “Bobby” Slawter; brothers, Elbert, Gilbert and Wilbert Slawter; mother of his children, Martha “Ellen” Lloyd. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and to his caregivers Stephanie and Crystal.
