Age: 82
Community: Flint Township, MI

Kasle, Franklin H. of Flint Township passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of December 9, 2024 at his home. Frank was born to Louis and Charlotte Kasle at Hurley Hospital in Flint on December 29, 1941. In 1957, Frank fell in love with the beautiful and kind Judy Leiter, who quickly stole his heart. Determined to marry Judy, Frank wasted no time in winning over Judy’s mother, Millie Leiter, who’s approval paved the way for their marriage in 1963. After graduating from Flint Central High School in 1959, Frank attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. However, he flunked out after his Freshman year due to his enthusiasm for playing bridge with good friend, Edward Powers. Frank later graduated with honors from Wayne State University in 1964 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Frank began his professional career as a CPA at the accounting firm, Ernst & Ernst, in Detroit later that same year. In 1967, he hired on as a CPA with Flint-based accounting firm, Racher, Purman, and Tucker, and moved back to Flint. Then in 1972, Frank decided to pursue a career in law and secured admission to the University of Michigan Law School. After graduating summa cum laude in 1975, Frank took his newly earned Juris Doctorate to the law firm of Pelavin, Pelavin and Powers in Flint. He practiced law in Flint until 1977 when he decided to make yet another career change and joined his family’s business, Western Steel, as Vice President of Operations. After the company was sold, Frank returned to the law and established the law firm of Leyton & Kasle in 1986 with current Genessee County Prosector, David Leyton. Frank enjoyed a remarkable 20-year legal career until he retired from the law in 2006. In retirement, Frank finally had the time to pursue his favorite hobby, playing Bridge, and later succeeded in becoming a Bridge Life Master. He also pursued his dream of serving the people of Flint Township through his election to the Flint Township Board of Trustees in 2004. He served on the Board of Trustees for a remarkable 17 years and also served on the Flint Township Zoning Board of Appeals, the Flint Heights Terrace Board, and the Flint Township Fire Fighters Retirement Board. While Frank enjoyed a varied and rewarding professional career, he was first and foremost a husband to his wife Judy Kasle, a father to his children Robert and Terri Kasle. Frank and Judy enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Walloon Lake for 42 years. The long walks, boating and fishing contests were so important to Frank. They shared their love of the lake’s beauty with their family. Frank had a passion for travel. He loved to plan trips meticulously. Shelly Wolin played a special part in Franks’ life since childhood. These last five years he came over often, brought lunch, played cards with Frank and they both loved it. There are two groups who have been dedicated friends. The birthday group has met once a month for dinner for over 40 years. The other group is the ‘Shabbat 7’ who shared over 200 Shabbat meals with Frank and Judy. The Kasle family is deeply grateful to the Caregiver Professionals and to Frank’s caregivers Julie, Sharave, Merlin and Sally who have taken exceptional care of him. Thank you to Absolute Hospice nurses Cindy, Samantha and Rose. Frank lived his life as a man of peace and died as he lived, peacefully, at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judith Kasle, by his children Robert Kasle and Terri (Charles) Lerose, his siblings Jerry (Shaindel) Kasle and Joan Kasle (Allan Hertzenson), his grandchildren Lauren Kasle Sanchez (Jordan Sanchez), Chloe Kasle and Amalia Lerose. Frank had a close relationship with his nieces and nephews Shimon, Lori (Noah), Elana, Joseph (Tzippy), David (Rifka), Rebecca (Kohavi), Peter, Veronica, Ricky, Irene and his many grandnieces and nephews, and great grandnieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Charlotte and Louis Kasle and sisters Noreen and Diane Kasle.
