AKERS, Danny Elwood - Age 74, of Flint Township, died Saturday, January 2, 2021. Graveside service will be held 12:30 PM Monday, January 11, 2021 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly.
Danny was born April 19, 1946 in Roanoke, VA, the son of Vassel Golden and Eva May (Matney) Akers. He was drafted by the United States Marine Corp on January 5, 1966. He served one year in Vietnam, upon returning he moved to Flint, where he worked at Buick City for 39 years. He married Patricia A. Magalski in November of 1968 living in the Linden area until 1985 when the family moved to Flint. Danny was an active member of VFW Post #3087 and served as Commander for 2 years. He also was an active member with the American Legion Post #64.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves his wife, Patricia; 2 daughters, Barbara Isham and Peggy Green-Hodgkins. Son-in-law, Kyle Hodgkins; Grandchildren, Jamie and Jason Latting, Jason and Andrea Spencer, Kailee Arnett, Michael and Jessie Schutt, Crystal Green, Trey Green, James Switzer, Kileigh Hodgkins; and 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Joe, John, Phil, and Paul Akers; and many nieces and nephews.
