EWING, Charles E. - Age 95, of Linden, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 21, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton (A live stream of the service will be available on Charles obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Rev Stephanie Sorensen officiating. Burial 1:00 PM Friday, October 21, 2022 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday October 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to Linden United Methodist Church.
Charles was born July 22, 1927 in Fairfield, IL, the son of William F. and Erma L. (Hawk) Ewing. He was a graduate of Whitmer High School in Toledo, OH; and received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Eastern Michigan University. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. He married Naomi E. Albring December 30, 1947 in Toledo, OH and she preceded him in death August 30, 2015. Charles had resided in Fenton/Linden most of his life. He was employed by AC Spark Plug for 31 1/2 years as a Chemical Engineer. He was a member of Fenton United Methodist Church, where he served on the board and was an usher; and he was a active member and Past Master of the Fenton Masonic Lodge #109 F.&A.M. He also was a member of Big Brothers, Fenton Lion's Club, Fenton J.C.'s and a volunteer for the Boy Scouts Troop #212. Charles enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling in his travel trailer.
Surviving are his daughter, Marsha J. McCoury of New Hudson; sons, Dr. David Ewing and wife Leslie of Linden, Mark Ewing and wife Ellen of Frankenmuth, and Douglas Ewing of Salt Lake City, UT; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother, Richard Ewing and wife Betty of Toledo, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell Ewing; and sister, Eleanore Brookman. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
