ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Charles D. Baker, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on May 14, 2023, at home in Florida. Charles will be forever remembered by his wife Laurie and his children; John (Mytisha) Baker, Joseph Baker, Abigail Baker, Levi (Lynette) Baker, Ellen (Ramoan) Boston and Rachel (Jamie) Scott.
Charles was also a wonderful grandfather to DeQuandra (Eric) Baker-Williams, Jalisa Baker, John Baker Jr., Kailyn Smith Baker, Jacoby Coleman, Asia Boston, Camron Baker, Christian Baker, Mikayla Baker, Anney Walker, twins Londyn & Landen Baker, Destiny Bacon, Larry McLemore III and Charles Galvin IV. He was also Blessed as a great-grandfather to DeMarius Baker, Kariem Williams, Christian Williams, Jonathan Prince, Jordyn Prince, Jaye Prince, Briella Baker, Zeniah Baker, Mason Baker and Kamari Walker.
Charles will also be fondly remembered by his sisters; Leola Taylor, Viola (Carl) Rouse, Carrie Baker and his brother Roosevelt (Sherri) Baker, brother-in-law Scott (Gina) Anderson, sister-in-law Nikki (Kris) Hulsebos, several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Charles served proudly in the Vietnam War in 1965. Charles was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Vietnam Overseas Service Bar and most notably a Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star. Charles was employed by General Motors over 30 years and a builder for over 40 years.
Charles loved having fun and being with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor. He could light up any room with his big smile and infectious laugh. He will always be remembered as a gentle giant with the best hugs. He never met a stranger.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Lizzy Baker; sisters, Maggie, Rosemary and Nettie; brothers, Homer, Walter, Abraham and Claude; son, Ryan L. Baker and sister-in-law Lisa Foster.
Cremation and Memorial Service have taken place at Poitier Funeral Home in Pompano Beach, FL. |
