Emogene "Jean" F. Volz peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the age of 88.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Montrose United Methodist Church Hall.
She was born on February 28, 1934 in St. Charles, Michigan. the daughter of Eldred and Dorothy Holzhausen. She married her soulmate, Kenneth Volz, on September 10, 1960. He predeceased her on January 10, 2010.
Jean was a preschool teacher at Flushing Schools for many years and held story hour at the library. She made and impact on many young lives. She enjoyed running into her grown students and them telling her how they always remembered her classes and she was always bumping into someone she knew no matter where in the world she was.
Later in life she never slowed down, zipping around town in her orange Jeep Renegade. She enjoyed playing cards, euchre and pinnecole at friends houses or the Montrose Senior Center. She was a member of the Montrose Methodist Church and loved the nightly scripture calls from the pastor.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Donna; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Dolly; in-laws, Wayne, Mary and Karon; and her beloved dog, Bella.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Bonnie) Volz, Kendrick Volz, Kara (Kurt) Petroskey; grandchildren, Andrew, Caleigh, Cassidy, Donald and Matthew; siblings, Robert Holzhausen, Carolyn Koski, Beth Lyon; as well as many other dear friends and family.
