Lois A. Griffin, of Flushing, Michigan, age 84, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022 at Flushing United Methodist Church. Pastor JJ Mannschreck will officiate. Cremation to follow. Visitation will be at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing United Methodist Church.
Lois was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 29, 1938 to Ronald and Lillian (Gradel) Ebel. She married Norman L. Griffin on January 30, 1960, just one day after her own birthday. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wilmington College in Ohio and later earned her Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. She taught mathematics at both Powers Catholic High School and Mott Community College. Lois served as a member of the AAUW, American Association of University Women, and for the MARSP, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, serving as past president for both. She enjoyed water doing aerobics at the YMCA. She was a wonderful mother to her four children, as well as to her foster children, who she was fondly known as “Momma Lois” to. She was always the life of the party and her beaming personality will be truly missed by many.
Lois is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norman Griffin; children, Catherine Griffin, Michael (Rhonda) Griffin, Christopher (Alice) Griffin, Timothy (Sussy) Griffin, Shannon (Charles) McNeil, and Jessica (Tim) Ruby; grandchildren, Zachary Griffin, Tyler (Danna) Griffin, Madison Griffin, Dani McNeil, Charlie McNeil, and Jase Ruby; great-grandson, Daymon Griffin; brother, Ronald (Barbara) Griffin; many nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Elam, and both of her parents. |
