BISHOP, Donald Gene – of Clio, age 78, died Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his daughter’s home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 26, 2022 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Carol Freeland officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, May 26, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home in Clio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the Clio VFW Honor Guard.
Donald was born June 12, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late Archie and Virgie (Caudle) Bishop. He grew up in the California and Flint area. He served his country in the US Navy from 1960 to 1964. On August 21, 1971 he married Shirley Seneski in Flint, Michigan. Don owned and operated Family Mecca Restaurant and Bishop Auto Sales for several years. He also worked for Superior- Pontiac and Cadillaic as a salesman. Don was a member and past President of the Circus Park Shrine Club, Masonic Lodge # 205 in Clio, and Past Associate Bethel Guardian of the Bethel #33 Clio JDI. He enjoyed traveling, remodeling, and was always busy with a project.
Surviving are: Wife of 50 years, Shirley Bishop; Children, Donald Bishop Jr., Alexander (Marilyn) Panos, Gary (Doreen) Bishop, Sophia Starr, Vincent Bishop, Dana (Jason) Burtrum; Grandchildren, Anthony Freeman, Brittani Bishop, Christopher Valdez, Adrienne Burtrum, John-Michael Burtrum; Great Grandchildren, David Valdez, Abigail Arissa, Ozias Valdez, Loxley Burtrum; sister, Pat Lopez and Martha (Chuck) Stevens; several niece and nephews.
