Roberta "Bobbi" J. Schoolfield, of Flint, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2021.
She was born in Monticello, Iowa to Robert and Hazel Swartzwell on November 1, 1942 and was a proud graduate of Indiana University School of Nursing, and held a Master's in nursing from the University of Washington. Bobbi worked in public health and nursing education. She married Byron Schoolfield on August 14, 1965.
Bobbi was a past deacon and current member of First Presbyterian Church in Flint, and served countless ways in many organizations: past President of the Genesee County Medical Society Alliance, a board member of the Junior Needlework Guild, member of the Junior League, volunteer at Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry, and board member of Hemophilia-Michigan. She taught Body Recall Fitness at the Flushing Senior Center for 25 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristi (Brian) Acker; grandchildren: Trever (Melissa) Acker, Devin Acker, and Morgan Acker; great-grandchildren Claira, Adalynn, and Brady; brother-in-law Ed Kingsley; niece Denise (Brian) Herhusky; nephew Mark Kingsley; great-nieces and nephews: Allyson (Brian) Wales, Nicholas (Annika) Herhusky, Mason Herhusky, Lindsay Herhuskey, and Brooke Herhusky. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Byron of 53 years, son Kevin Schoolfield, and sister-in-law Carol Kingsley.
The family will greet friends from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be lived streamed at 11:30am on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from the First Presbyterian Church of Flint website at www.FPCF.org. The church will not be open to the public. Guests are encouraged to join the family for the graveside services at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 13 at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint.
In compliance with the state and local mandates please practice social distancing, wear a facial covering, and follow gathering limitations of 25 guests inside the funeral home while visiting.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be directed to Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry or Gerholz Counseling Center at First Presbyterian Church.
