PARKER, Peter, aka “Spider Man”, previously of Grand Blanc, Mt Pleasant, and Alpena, MI passed away in his sleep on July 19, 2025, at Crestwood Assisted Living in Mt Pleasant after battling dementia.

Peter, born in New York City on February 23, 1936, was a graduate of Stevens High School in 1954. He was the co-captain of the school’s football team in 1953 and was an all-state football end playing in the first NH/Vt. Shriners Football Classic in 1954. It was in high school that Peter met his wife and lifelong friend, Elaine Francis Simoneau.

After high school, Peter served honorably in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958 when he returned to attend the University of New Hampshire where he earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Government and Political Science. He was among the first college students to be chosen for the prestigious New York State Public Administration Intern Program in Albany, N.Y. and spent over 38 years as a City/Town Manager, Senior City Budget Analyst, and Assistant City/Town Manager in various cities across several states, but mainly in Michigan.

Peter was active in community endeavors, among others serving as a Rotary Club President, assisting in many community volunteer projects and as Finance Officer where he lived in Grand Blanc. Peter was also a lifelong Michigan State University (MSU) fan!

Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ruth Wagner (Claremont, NH), wife Elaine (Simoneau) Stevens High School class of 1955, daughter Cheryl Ann Baxter (Fenton), and brother David Wagner (NH). He is survived by two sons, Kevin and Keith, seven grandchildren, Heather Parker, Alex Rautanen, Ashley Rautanen, Megan Baxter, Ryan Baxter, Alyssa Atkinson and Kelsey Parker, and two brothers, Tom Wagner (E. Charleston, VT) and Alan Wagner (Lebanon, NH).

Memorial visitation will be held 10am-1pm Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A military service ceremony will be held at 2pm Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
