SEKELSKY, Marion Clara Davidek, of Flint, passed away on November 20, 2020 at the age of 91. Marion was born on January 25, 1929, to Joseph Davidek and Mary Fogas Davidek. A proud graduate of Beecher High School, Class of 1947, Marion and her sisters enjoyed a beautiful childhood on Stewart Avenue in Flint. On November 22, 1952, Marion married Edward Sekelsky at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Four children were born to this marriage, Michael (Jeanne) Sekelsky, Mary Jo Sekelsky, EdD, Cathryn (David) Melkus, and Mark Sekelsky, OD. Marion was blessed to have nine grandchildren, Andrew (Gretchen) Sekelsky, Matthew (Liz) Sekelsky, Marci (Chuck) Mort, Elli Sekelsky, Peter Melkus, Andrea (Jeff) Mertz, Mark (Jenna) Sekelsky, Eduardo Sekelsky, Mario Sekelsky, and ten great-grandchildren, Abby Drew Sekelsky, Lucas Sekelsky, Sutton Sekelsky, Brady Mort, Peyton Mort, Mia Melkus, Myla Melkus, Lillian Mertz, Mark Sekelsky, Miles Sekelsky. Marion is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald Klump; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Joseph Davidek; parents-in-law Mary and Joseph Sekelsky; sisters, Helen (Cecil) Szepanski and Cathryn Klump; son-in-law David Melkus; sisters-in-law Cathrine Sekelsky, Margaret Sakash, Helen Stevens, Katherine Gensel, Mary Louise Sekelsky, and Elizabeth Sekelsky; brothers-in-law, Paul Sekelsky, Joseph Sekelsky, Mike Sekelsky, John Sekelsky, William Sekelsky, and Peter Sekelsky.

A lover of travel, culture and art, Marion enjoyed many trips across the United States and around the globe. She was a decades-long volunteer at the International Institute of Flint, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting intercultural understanding by providing comprehensive services to immigrants. Marion appreciated music and sang in church choirs from the time she was a very young girl until well into her 80s. A painter and published writer, Marion’s works will be enjoyed by family and friends forever.
