MASSEY, Charles “Charlie” – of Birch Run, formerly of Clio, age 79, died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Charlie was born November 24, 1946, to the late James and Ellen (Miller) Massey. He graduated from Birch Run High School and worked at Conlee Oil for many years. He was most proud, however, of being a local farmer who grew and sold the best sweet corn around. On March 14, 2015, he married Rita Allen, and together they created a beautiful life. Charlie was a member of the Top Eliminator Club in Indianapolis and enjoyed attending NHRA drag races with his group of buddies. He liked traveling, especially to Florida, and keeping up with yard work. Charlie was unique in his own way, stubborn at times, but had a true heart of gold. He will be dearly missed.
Charlie is forever loved and remembered by: Wife, Rita Massey; Children: Erin (Scott) Oberski and Chuck Massey; Grandchildren: Emma, Eric, Keigan, Keira, Mitchell, Baylee, Zach, Owen, Spencer, Mason, Troy, and Ava; Daughters-in-law: Kathy Massey and Carrie (Fred) Blackstone; Stepbrother, Gary Muehlenbeck; Brother-in-law, Ernie Cruthers; Special friends: Mark “Zippy” Knight, Tom Ross, Bob Ross, Dick (Cathy) Montague, Dale (Sue) Page, Tim (Nita) Muehlenbeck, and Louanne Montey; Beloved companion, Charlotte; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Charlie was preceded in death by: Son, Brian Massey; Grandson, Michael Massey; Stepson, Justin Thornburg; Parents, Jim and Ellen; Siblings: Margaret, Jim, Shirley, and Bill; Stepbrother, Bill. |
