WILLIAMS, Mertis Javene (Norman) – of Burton, MI, age 98, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Jim Pryor officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10 AM-12 PM Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richfield Road United Brethren in Christ Church, 6259 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506 or to C and N Home Care, 1072 Maple Heights Drive, White Lake, MI 48386, in Javene’s memory.
Javene was born in Beech Grove, Arkansas on August 17, 1924, daughter of the late Ralph and Vestal (Horne) Norman. After being raised on a farm and working briefly in St. Louis, Missouri during WW II, she married Wilburn Williams on May 29, 1946 after the war ended. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2006. Javene was a member of Richfield Road United Brethren in Christ Church. She enjoyed her family and friends, flower gardening, her church and she loved helping people.
Javene is survived by 3 children, Sandra (Steve) Krupa, Michael (Sandy) Williams and Gary (Becky) Williams; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wilma Norman; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vestal Norman; husband, Wilburn Williams; 5 siblings, Berlas (Margie) Norman, Genoal (Glenn) Hightower, Maxine (Donald) Barron, Wendell Norman and Laverna Kay (Charlie) Wozniak.
