Patsy (Pat) J. Wash, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 19, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born on January 24, 1931, to John and Minnie (Cavallo) Wash in Mount Clare, WV. He graduated from Lost Creek High School in 1949. He then served in the Armed Forces from 1949 to 1953 where he was stationed in Arizona and Texas during the Korean War. Upon his sister’s request, he began writing letters to a wonderful young lady who quickly became the love of his life, Clara Mazza. They were joined in marriage on October 10, 1953, in Clarksburg, WV. Soon afterward, the couple moved to Flint, Michigan where Pat immediately began working at General Motors. He eventually became a pipefitter and was a hardworking employee until he retired at the age of 61.
Pat was a member of the U.A.W. and the Knights of Columbus. He was a devout Catholic and long-time member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Pat was an avid gardener and had many neighbors who admired his gardens. He loved making sausage and wine, canning, and he enjoyed passing those traditions along to his family. Pat was an exceedingly generous man who frequently volunteered his skills and shared his vast knowledge of carpentry and craftsmanship with others. Pat taught his family the value of repurposing and strong work ethics. By hosting numerous parties and gatherings, he and his wife created fond memories.
Pat is survived by his son, John (Tracy) Guarascio, his daughter, Cathy (Paul) Atkins; five grandchildren, Jennifer Atkins, Heather Atkins, Melissa (Seth) DeHaan, Shae Applebee, and Nicco Guarascio; his great-grandson, Oleander DeHaan; his brother Albert Wash and many nieces and nephews.
