POWELL, James I., Jr. – of Flint, age 73, passed away September 15, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor John Vannest officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday and 12 PM until time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
James was born in Flint, MI on August 4, 1945, son of the late Ivan and Lenora (Ketterer) Powell. He proudly served in Korea with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. James married Jacqueline Biggert in March of 1969 at United Brethren in Christ Church in Flint, MI. He was an avid bowler. James enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and being outdoors with his dog, Jake. He loved to sit on the back porch and watch the fall colors change in Onaway. James retired from GM after 43 years.
James is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; daughter, Stephanie (Ginger Aucoin) Powell; brothers, Kenneth (Janice) Powell, Richard (Joyce) Powell, David (Beth) Powell and Keith (Rachelle) Powell; sisters, Judith (Robert) Lawler and Karen Powell. sisters-in-law, Barbara (Doug) Calhoun and Betty Jean Biggert; brother-in-law, Joe (Beverly Hill) Biggert; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James I. Powell III.
