Thelma Pearl Fridline (Dunn)

Born: 7/13/1932
Died: 4/26/2025
Age: 92
Community: Flint, MI

FRIDLINE, Thelma Pearl (Dunn) of Flint, age 92, passed from this life into her heavenly home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She did not succeed in making it to a hundred, but she is still kicking it on the golden streets.

She came into this world on July 13, 1932, right on the heels of her twin sister Elma Meril, in Snover, Michigan, born to Robert George and Alice Erma (Clapsaddle). They were the birthday surprise their mother did not expect, as they were born on her birthday and were carried for nine months without realizing they were twins. As numbers three and four of eight siblings, Thelma and Elma were tasked with helping their father with the outside chores; thus, their mechanical talents were born and nurtured. The twins attended school in Oxford, Michigan where they were cheerleaders, played basketball and loved roller skating. Both were accomplished seamstresses, a skill they were taught by their mother and Grandma Stevens. Singing was a passion, and she was able to sing beautiful harmony with Elma around the Flint area, where they moved for employment with AC Spark Plug.

On January 22, 1955, she married Roy Harley Fridline. Together, they built the house she spent her life caring for and passing in, from the ground up. Throughout the years, she was a stay-at-home mom and helped her husband with every task, even getting on the roof and helping him shingle in her high heels. Once her children were grown, she took a job at The Fair Store, where she was a seamstress in the wedding department. She retired from there when her grandchildren started being born because she wanted to be able to babysit and be in their life as often as she could.

She was a crafty person who could create anything from nothing. Much of her time was spent at Richfield Road Church entertaining the children; putting on puppet shows, decorating the walls and planning the artsy classes. She will always be known for wearing her high heels, even her sporty ones that her daughter Debbie bought her. The Boss was an obsession for her, she drove her 1967 Buick Wildcat every chance she could. It was her baby, and she always personally kept up the maintenance.

She was met by her husband, Roy Harley Fridline; her parents; her brother Jim; her sister, Nora Ann Bilgren; sons-in-law, John Kogut and Gary Mastin; great-grandson, Gabriel Joseph Hanna; ten siblings-in-law; and her eternal soul mate, Elma Meril Banks.

She is survived by her five daughters: Debarah Kogut, Linda (John) Kotsko, Rainee Mastin, Corrina (Daniel) Madar, and Tammy (Jeff) Jaskulka; grandchildren: Paul (Wendy Webb) and Troy Kogut, Angela (Brian) Savard, Anthony (Cristi) and Amanda Kotsko; Rebecca (Joe Grant), Zach, and Jeremiah Mastin, Selena (Michael) Fournier, Brooke, Elijah, Levi, Jacob, Adam and Ian Madar; Brandon and Logan Jaskulka; nine great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law: Rich (Mel) and Sharron Fridline. She is also survived by her siblings: Wanda Jane Kinkle, Max (Verneta) Dunn, Shirley Earegood, and Nancy (Jerald) Lamphier.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Richfield Road United Brethren Church, G-6259 Richfield Rd., Flint, MI 48506, Pastor Jim Pryor officiating. Thelma will be interred next to her husband following the service at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery.
